Setting up the Degree Show

Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday this week have been spent setting up the degree show, first it is painting the 10foot boards, then putting them all together to make them stand up and then you start putting your work up, at the end of today I have a fair idea of what is going where, but when I left it is looking something like this:Lots of masking tape where everything temporarily placed has fallen down! And some things looking you could say kind of ship shape, but still with lots of masking tape until the nails come out tomorrow!

Bags, bags, bags

Being a bag obsessive myself I really wanted to make some for my show, here is a sneaky peak of one

Accessories

I have decided to develop a range of knitted accessories for my final show instead of fashion. These are some of the accessories I have tried making

Laser Cutting

The new laser cutter at uni has played a big part in my work for my final show, from cutting dusters to felt circles , flowers and buttons.

First Samples

These are some of my first samples I have developed from my initial drawing work

Design seminars

As part of our final show we had to do a powerpoint presentation about our work, what and why we were doing it and where we intended to head with it for the show. To see mine click here.

Design work

To begin with I have started by doing some drawing and research for my final project, of circle architecture and paisley:

What am I up to?

After the dissertation it was time to get stuck into our final degree show, and start creating our blogs to send on CVs when we graduate. I have another blog lucy in stitches which I keep more as a day to day diary (feel free to have a peek), and this blog is basically about my course.

For my final show I am carrying on with inspiration from my gaudi project (circles in architecture) but also looking at pattern by taking inspiration from paisley prints.
